One Week to Go – Then 2012!

Sweet Sunday

I have been able to enjoy this Christmas Eve watching football and spending time with my family. As the end of the Detroit Lions game is upon me and dinner being prepared, I am reminded again about the coming of the end of the year and the beginning of the new.

I believe that 2012 is going to be the most important year in my life and I am so excited about it that I wish it could start on Monday instead of a week from Sunday. What is going to make this year so important is that I am going to stop being what everyone tells me that I am supposed to be and become the person I was born to be.

The reason I am posting this on my business site is, that in order to be this person I am supposed to be I must become a friend and guide to people who want to live their lives and create businesses with passion and commitment. There is so much mediocrity in our world today and so many people who think that life owes them everything that passion and commitment are sorely lacking.

2012 is going to be a year of personal revolution for me as well as those who join me! I am so excited about what is going to take place that I am just about to jump out of my skin in anticipation! My question for you is, “Wanna play?”

Leave a comment, ask a question, join the conversation!!!!!

Quick Site Update

I just wanted to post a quick site update, because I am incredibly excited with the activity over the past week. At the beginning of last week my efforts were to quietly update the site throughout the month of December and then launch it in its new configuration and with its new mission on January 1, 2012. (This is still my ultimate goal, but it has been modified just a bit!)

To my shock, last week several people actually joined the site as members! There are eight of us total (and one “practice” member) as of this writing. Eight doesn’t seem like much, but seven of the eight came “by accident” (I was here on purpose)! I am so thrilled that folks both found the site and that they saw enough value to “join.”

So, for those of you who have joined in this “pre-launch” period, I need your help. I would like you to act as a sounding board for ideas that I have for the site. Please take time as often as you can to read these December posts that will lay out the ideas that will guide us here and will set the course for the new year.

Comment on what you read, give me feedback, additional thoughts, and your thoughts on both the direction of the site and how to accomplish the goals I will lay out in my December posts. As long as you are here early (which I count an incredible blessing) let me know what you think!

If you know some other Boomers who could bring some really cool thoughts to the table, invite them to join us as well!

I look forward to hearing from you and to gaining insight that will help me do the most good for the greatest number of Boomers!

Thanks for being here – Dave

What I Learned from Another Birthday!

Candles spell out the traditional English birt...

Yesterday was my 56th birthday! I had planned a quiet day to just enjoy the fall weather we are having and to relax my way into a new year of life. While the day was a great one, I learned three valuable lessons from another birthday:

  1. I learned that, on your birthday, you are really no different than you were the day before, just another day older. I woke up with the same mindset, the same desires, the same passions, and the same determination to make a dent in the universe!
  2. I learned that, on your birthday, the rest of the world does not take the day off to celebrate! Throughout the course of the day, I had to take care of clients and their needs, handle problems that cropped up, and generally get involved in things that did not involve celebrating my birthday!
  3. I learned that, on your birthday, taking a day off of life is awesome! While the world didn’t stop and I had to spend time on things other than celebrating, the day was in its entirety as great success with lots of fun and love from both family and friends. It was a great day and I am so thankful for being able to celebrate another year of my great life!

So, as you work your way through the rigors of life, don’t forget that even if the world doesn’t have the capacity to stop to celebrate your birthday, that it is your God given right to do just that! Happy birthday to all and to all a good night.

To Honor Their Service

Picture of graves decorated with flags at Arli...

Today is Memorial Day here in the United States. It is a day when we, as a country stop for a moment in time to honor the life and sacrifices of those who have served and who are serving this country in the military services.

The point of this holiday is to remind ourselves that the freedom that has been afforded us in this country comes with a price. That price is the willingness of men and women alike who are willing to risk life and limb for the freedoms we hold so dear.

So, today, we honor you all. Those who have served in years past and those who are in the service of this country today. We honor you for what you do and can’t breathe a breath of freedom’s air without being thankful for the sacrifice of your lives for us.

For those of us who are living in the freedom afforded by these brave men and women, I have another thought about memorial day that I would like to toss out for our consideration. In order to honor their service, I would like to challenge all of us to live our lives in the fullness of the freedom so many of these heroes have fought and died for.

What I mean by this is that our service men and women keep us free and provide us with a country built on the ability to be anything we choose to be. I believe that we can best honor the service of those we remember on this Memorial Day by making the choice to live life to the fullest, by choosing to “be all that we can be,” and by making our  world a better place for everyone who lives in our communities.

When we live to our fullest, we say with our actions, as well as our voices, “Thank you!”

Have a great Memorial Day!
